Vienna Post 180 vs Springfield 176
Vienna Post 180 vs. Springfield 176
9–2
· Final, 9–2
“Springfield's first game of the season, Vienna's 3rd. Too many walks to covercome for Springfield. 2 bad innings did in the Snakeheads. Hit totals are close”

Vienna Post 180 broke loose in the bottom of the second and never gave Springfield Post 176 a way back in a 9-2 win Sunday at Oakton High School. Griffin Murphy drove in one run on a single in the inning, Will Donohue added an RBI single, and Vienna also cashed in on an error to seize control early.

That second-inning burst proved decisive, and the home team stayed in command from there. Vienna’s patience at the plate was a factor all afternoon, drawing seven walks and piling up 10 hits while Springfield was limited to seven hits in its first game of the season. The Snakeheads had one of their tougher stretches in those middle innings, with the walks making the margin difficult to erase.

Murphy finished 3-for-4 for Vienna and drove in a run as part of a lineup that spread the production around. Donohue reached base five times with three walks and finished with an RBI, while Daniel Killoran, Noah Ramirez, Alex Russell, Ben Grimsley, Tyler Ashcraft and Jacob Lucca also each drove in a run for Vienna. For Springfield, Calvin Colon, Sid Barlow, Henry Mahns, Andrew Rubino, Cooper Haley, Shane Dunn and William Paul all finished with one hit, with Colon and Barlow driving in the two runs.

Jackson Speer earned the win for Vienna, working six innings and allowing six hits and two runs while striking out three and walking two. Andrew Pierce and Alex Ament finished the game with shutout innings in relief. Jack Cavallario took the loss for Springfield, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings, and Rocky Webster and Colon also saw mound work for the visitors.
