Bryce Walkinshaw sparked the visitors throughout, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Andrew Haydon and Nic Prabhakar each added 2 hits in the win.
Fairfax Post 177 opened the scoring in the first when Walkinshaw doubled to bring home Haydon. Springfield Post 176 Snakeheads answered in the sixth to move in front, 3-1, behind a run-scoring single from David Perrin, Jack Brookes’ triple, and a defensive miscue. The hosts kept it there briefly, then scored again in the seventh when Perrin singled to bring home Connor Rondeau.
Fairfax Post 177 flipped it back in the top of the seventh. Prabhakar reached on an error that allowed two runs to score, and Haydon followed with an RBI single. Gunnar Greenlee then singled in the eighth to score Ben Hunter, and a balk brought home another run as Fairfax extended the margin before the final inning.
The ninth turned into Fairfax’s biggest inning of the day. Ben Metrocavage doubled to score two runs, Bruce Waldschmidt added an RBI single, Prabhakar singled in another run, and Walkinshaw capped the rally with a triple that drove in two more. Fairfax finished with 17 hits, with Ben Hunter adding two hits and two runs scored and Metrocavage driving in two.
Springfield got a solid day at the plate from Perrin, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Brookes, who finished 2-for-5 and tripled. William Paul doubled, and the Snakeheads worked eight walks as a group. Sid Barlow had two stolen bases, and Springfield totaled five steals on the day.
Ben Torbert struck out seven over five innings for Fairfax, and the bullpen pieces of Miles Fitterer, Adam Stuhrke and Ben Hunter finished the job. Jack Cavallario started for Springfield and allowed one run over six innings with five strikeouts and no walks before the late damage fell on Calvin Colon and Connor Rondeau.
