Springfield Post 176 Snakeheads rode a three-hit night from David Perrin and a fast start to a 10-6 win over Alexandria 24 on Tuesday at Frank Mann Field. Perrin went 3-for-4, Cooper Haley drove in two runs, and Springfield kept enough pressure on the bases to stay in front.
Springfield struck in the first on Haley’s single and an Alexandria error, then added three more in the second. Perrin singled in the inning, Henry Mahns drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Aidan Baxter added a single as the Snakeheads built an early cushion.
Alexandria answered in the bottom of the first on Jack Mehrman’s single that scored a run, then added runs in the second and third. The home team got a run-scoring single from Cole Ruff in the second and another run on a Mac Halm single in the third.
Springfield created more separation in the middle innings. Connor Rondeau scored on a balk in the fourth, and Perrin later came across on a steal of home in the sixth. Perrin also collected singles in the second, fourth and sixth, while Haley kept applying pressure on the bases and finished with three stolen bases.
The Snakeheads finished with 10 hits and six walks, with Henry Mahns driving in a run and Calvin Colon adding 2 hits. Andrew Rubino and William Paul also scored for Springfield, and Sid Barlow drove in a run as part of the scoring. Alexandria matched Springfield’s walk total and got three hits from Mehrman, while Halm, Joey Qutub and Ruff each contributed RBIs.
On the mound, Daniel Klapmust opened for Springfield and allowed three runs over three innings, before Jack Cavallario threw three scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts. Jameson Kinsky started for Alexandria and took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, over four innings. Dylan Klotz finished the game on the mound for Alexandria.
