Lorton Post 162 used a pair of big innings and Justice Lambert’s four-RBI night to outlast Springfield Post 176 Snakeheads, 16-14, on Thursday at West Springfield High School. Lambert went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, while Lorton answered Springfield’s early burst and then held on through a high-scoring finish.

Springfield struck first when Aidan Baxter launched a three-run homer to left field in the first. Lorton tied it in the second on a walk and an error, then took control with a seven-run fourth. Zyler Munoz delivered the biggest swing in that frame with a two-run single, and Lorton also cashed in on a run-scoring double from Lambert as the visitors pulled ahead.

Springfield made its biggest push in the fifth, scoring seven runs on three hits to pull back into the game. Andrew Rubino keyed that rally with a three-run double, while Connor Rondeau, Shane Dunn, Jack Cavallario and others helped keep the inning going.

Lorton answered in the eighth and ninth to stay ahead. Lambert singled in two more runs in the eighth, and Nolan Phillips and Talon Camacho added two-hit efforts from the top of the order. Camacho finished 3-for-6 with three runs scored, while Noah Toy added two hits and an RBI and Zyler Munoz, Phillips and Connor Chan each helped stack pressure throughout the lineup.

Springfield still put up a strong offensive fight behind Baxter and Rubino. Baxter finished 2-for-5 with four RBIs, and Rubino went 2-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs. Henry Mahns drove in a run, while Shane Dunn scored twice and drew three walks to keep the lineup moving.

On the mound, Noah Toy opened for Lorton and worked three innings, allowing three runs on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks. Finn Conger closed it out, giving up four runs over four innings. For Springfield, Daniel Klapmust allowed seven runs in 3.1 innings, Ethan Brown covered two-thirds of an inning, and Connor Rondeau worked the final five innings as the Snakeheads kept clawing back until the final out.
