
Alexandria 24 turned a six-run deficit into a 20-10 win Tuesday at Frank Mann Field, erupting for 13 runs in the bottom of the sixth and rolling past McLean Post 270. Andy Matthews drove the charge with five RBIs, while Beckett Stallard delivered the biggest hit in the decisive inning with a run-scoring single.
McLean Post 270 struck first in the top of the opening inning. Nikhil Antil doubled to left and Joshua Orr and Joseph Vargo each grounded out to bring in a run, giving McLean an early lead. The visitors stretched that lead in the third when Chase Nash singled to center and Jason Seeber doubled to center.
Alexandria 24 kept chipping away before the sixth inning flipped everything. The home team sent 13 runs across on five hits to seize control at 17-7, with Stallard’s RBI single highlighting the outburst. Alexandria finished with 11 hits and drew 14 walks, showing patience throughout the game.
Matthews went 2-for-5 and matched team-high production with five RBIs, while Jack Mehrman, Asa Sermons and Matthews each finished with two hits. Joey Qutub worked four walks, and Sermons added three stolen bases for Alexandria.
McLean still got a strong offensive line from Jason Seeber, who went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, and Nikhil Antil, Joshua Orr, Joseph Vargo, Chase Nash, Calvin Dougherty and Jack Kolsky each added a hit. Shane Waldschmidt drew three walks, and McLean finished with eight free passes as a team.
On the mound, Chase Nash started for McLean and allowed five hits and four runs, one earned, over five innings with four strikeouts and four walks. Auggie Albers started for Alexandria and gave up four hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two and walking five, before the Alexandria offense took over late. McLean next plays Lorton Post 162 on Thursday.
