Alexandria 24 looked in control early, scoring five times in the second and adding two more in the third. Micah Herndon, Andy Matthews and Avner Quigley helped fuel the second-inning burst, with Matthews finishing 2-for-6 with three RBIs and Quigley going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Wesley Hodges also had two hits and drove in a run, while Dylan Klotz added two hits as Alexandria put together 2 hits and seven walks.
Springfield started chipping away in the second when Aidan Baxter scored on a wild pitch, then added two in the fourth and two more in the fifth to keep the game within reach. Henry Mahns went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three stolen bases, while David Perrin matched him with two hits and three RBIs.
