
Springfield 176 rode Dean Johnson’s three-hit, five-RBI night to a 14-7 win over McLean Post 270 on Tuesday. Johnson, batting out of the nine spot, went 3-for-3 and drove in runs as Springfield pulled away after an early McLean push.
McLean struck first in the top of the opening inning when Liam Palacios singled in two runs and Joshua Orr drew a walk that forced home another. Palacios finished with three hits in five at-bats, including a double in the fifth and another single in the ninth.
Springfield flipped the game in the bottom of the second. After a McLean error, Andrew Grane doubled, and Johnson, Sid Barlow and David Perrin each followed with run-scoring hits as Springfield moved ahead 5-3. Johnson added another RBI single in the third to extend the margin to 6-3.
McLean still put together a productive night at the plate, finishing with 11 hits and eight walks. Jason Seeber had two hits, while Aidan Ryan drew three walks. Ryan and Jack Kolsky each stole multiple bases, and McLean also turned one double play.
Springfield matched McLean’s hit total with 10 and worked 15 walks to keep traffic on the bases all night. David Perrin collected two hits, and Shane Dunn drew three walks. Springfield did not commit an error, and Perrin handled 10 chances in the field.
On the mound, Chase Nash started for McLean and worked three innings, allowing eight hits and six runs, none earned, with one strikeout and one walk. Sam Figueroa started for Springfield and gave up three hits and three runs, two earned, over two innings while walking four. The game stayed in Springfield’s hands after the second, with Johnson’s production at the bottom of the order helping set the tone for the rest of the night.
