Fairfax Post 177 jumped on McLean Post 270 early and never let up in a 16-2 win Tuesday at Oakton High School. Noah Winters supplied the biggest swing with a three-run triple in the second inning, and Fairfax kept adding from there behind a sharp start from Ben Hunter.
The visitors struck first in the opening inning when Nic Prabhakar singled to right and later scored on a wild pitch. Fairfax then broke the game open in the second as Hunter drove in a run with a single and Winters followed with his three-run triple. The lead kept growing in the third, when Fairfax worked a string of walks and hits around Ian Sawtelle, Andrew Haydon, Prabhakar, Ryker Hansen and Brendan Orr to add five more runs.
Winters finished with four RBIs, while Hunter went 2-for-4 and led the bottom of Fairfax’s order with two hits. Prabhakar reached base three times on walks, and Ben Metrocavage swiped three bases as Fairfax drew 16 walks overall and played error-free defense. On the McLean side, Harrison Bohannon, Jason Seeber and Josh Melendez each had a hit, with Bohannon and Seeber driving in a run apiece and Melendez stealing two bases.
Hunter set the tone on the mound for Fairfax, allowing one hit over three scoreless innings while striking out eight and walking none. McLean starter Rhys Jones struck out four over two innings, but allowed four hits and six runs, four earned. McLean also turned one double play in the game.
