Nolan Phillips fueled Lorton Post 162’s big afternoon Saturday at McLean High School, driving in five runs and finishing with three hits in a 27-8 win over McLean Post 270. Phillips singled for two runs in the first, added an RBI single in the third, singled in two more runs in the sixth and later drew a walk in the seventh to bring home another run.
Lorton Post 162 grabbed control early and never let it go, opening the game with a two-run first and adding three more in the second on RBI doubles by Connor Chan and Drew Olson. The visitors tacked on two more in the third behind RBI singles from Ledy and Phillips, then put the game out of reach with a 10-run sixth inning and a six-run seventh.
Phillips and Ledy each finished with three hits for Lorton Post 162, while Chan, Taylor and Camacho each had multiple hits. Nolan Taylor singled in two runs during the sixth, and the team’s patience showed at the plate with 26 walks and eight stolen bases. Phillips and Chan each stole multiple bases as Lorton kept pressure on the bases throughout.
McLean Post 270 had some production in the loss, with Jack Kolsky going 3-for-4 and Saad Ali collecting two hits in four at-bats. Joseph Vargo and Jason Seeber each drove in two runs for McLean, while Liam Palacios started on the mound and allowed three hits and seven runs, five earned, in one and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts and five walks. Quinn Snyder started for Lorton Post 162 and worked two and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out one and walking two, before the Lorton bullpen took over.
