🏟️ About the Program

Arlington American Legion is here to support Arlington youth, proving them with a means to continue playing together after their HS journey competing is complete. The team provides both a competitive and affordable league, with minimal travel involved, without sacrificing quality nor quantity of play.

💰 Why American Legion vs. Travel Ball?

American Legion Baseball offers a competitive, community-based alternative to expensive travel programs. Players compete alongside teammates from their own high schools and neighborhoods across Northern Virginia's District 17 circuit, with 20+ games for most teams, full 9-inning baseball, standings, and playoffs.

American Legion
$150–$400
fees vary by team
Club / Travel Ball
$3,000+
typical club season

Legion Baseball has a long history as a practical summer baseball path for serious players. District 17 keeps that path local, affordable, and focused on real game reps.

Jason Moccia

Head Coach since 2006

A former player of post 139 - Jason grew up locally in Arlington and has helped coach this team since '06, recently taking over the program in '24. Besides American Legion, he also coaches HS - currently the assistant head coach for the Thomas Jefferson Science and Tech varsity program. Former W-L catcher, from 99-03. Participated in club Baseball, Ultimate Frisbee and Swing Dance while attending JMU (class of '07).

Coaching philosophy: I take a lot of pride in providing the best experience possible for the players who play for me. I also appreciate and represent the legacy of the players who have played for the program for two decades now. They will learn, they will have fun, and most importantly they will take away a great experience competing and challenging themselves.
